I have to admit it. My liberal friends were right. They told me if I voted for McCain, the nation's Hope would deteriorate, and sure enough there has been a 20 point drop in the Consumer Confidence Index since the election, reaching a lower point than any time during the Bush administration.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the US would become more deeply embroiled in the Middle East, and sure enough tens of thousands of additional troops are scheduled to be deployed into Afghanistan.

They told me if I voted for McCain, that the economy would get worse and sure enough unemployment is approaching 8.8% and the new stimulus packages implemented recently have sent the stock market lower than at any time since 9-11.

They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "crooks" in high ranking positions in Federal government and sure enough, several recent cabinet nominees and Senate appointments revealed resumes of bribery and tax fraud.

Well I ignored my Democrat friends in November and voted for McCain. And they were right... all of their predictions have come true.

:'( :( :'(

I don't know? Maybe we need to contact the ACLU, Jesse Jackson, Keith Oberman, Rev. Sharpton, or a low life tort attorney.....to make sure he didn't offend someone or a group of people? ;)

I get a little tired of "the sky is falling" nonsense.

With our political system, it's pretty much a given. One side gets elected, thinks they have a mandate to be stupid and corrupt, they get stupid and corrupt, sooner or later they get caught being stupid and corrupt, then enough people get ticked off that the other side gets elected.

Then they think they have a mandate to be stupid and corrupt, they get stupid and corrupt, sooner or later they get caught being stupid and corrupt, then enough people get ticked off that the other side gets elected.

If Bush and the Republicans hadn't been stupid and corrupt, Obama wouldn't have been elected.

But never fear, the Democrats are politicians, too.

Sooner or later they'll be caught being stupid and corrupt and then we'll go back to the Republicans so they can have another turn.

Not that I'm cynical or anything....

:-)

I wrote to a State representative recently about a proposed change regarding seat belt laws in Ohio. A little dismayed I hadn't heard back but didn't loose a lot of sleep over it . I heard this week that the measure was defeated then received the follow up below:

Dear Jack,

Thank you for contacting me regarding provisions of the State Transportation Budget that would make seat belt penalties a primary offense.

As you may know, this provision of the transportation budget was struck out of the bill in the Oho Senate and was not included in the final version of the bill. Thus, mandatory seat belt enforcement will remain a secondary offense.

Again, thank you for sharing your concerns with me. If I can be of any additional assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

David Goodman
State Senator
3rd District

I have had pretty good luck here contacting representatives even intervening on my behalf with an issue I have had with the IRS. Same with our AG for another issue. I can't say the politicians listen to everything I have to ask of them, but they do hear me! I don't hear as much back from my Washington reps as much as I do locally, but they do hear me!

When I have a complaint or unhappy, this is what I do and whether it helps or not, this one at least worked out the way I had hoped. Somewhere I am on record for making Afghanistan a glass factory, not the same with Iraq.

In Nomad parlance, the squeaky driveshaft spline gets the grease.
