HID for bike

Hi, has anyone tried these HID lamps?

http://cgi.ebay.com/BI-XENON-HID-CON...QQcmdZViewItem

Be sure to copy and paste all of address!

Seems as if the HID prices are coming way down, as there a lot of these replacements for standard bulbs coming out quite cheaply (I know there is no such thing as cheap in the long run).

They are mechanically switched between low and high by movement of bulb. I assume it has an electromagnet in there to move it backwards and forwards. I asked, and the default failure mode is low beam, so should fail (if it does) safe and not dazzle others.

The surge current on switch on appears to be 10 amps, but 'normal' current is only around 3.2A. Hopefully will be cooler than standard bulb too, rather than the option of 100w replacement.

I have sent of for a set, and will show what happens, with pics.

Hopefully there will be a pic below:

I had seen these around but I thought they actually produced more heat then the 100w bulbs, that was the only reason I shy'ed away as I have a lot of added electrical/solder in my headlight tin.

I'll look around as I think I have my bookmarks from when I was looking into them and post when I find them.

Seems like a lot of stuff to add for a brighter headlight. The Wagner 1210/H4 is only about $13 (here in USA) and is a direct replacement. Not meaning to poo-poo your idea. Just my thoughts. Let us know how it works.

Hey Mac, we both live pretty much on the same latitude, Tamworth is around 43ºN 71ºW, me around 51º30'N 3º36'W.I will point it west, and then left a smidge.

Looked at google earth, but didnt see you waving! Nice place there, lots of trees on the map, and that about it!
