Correct Screw for Chucksters Lowers

If you want to put Chucksters lowers on your 1700, you will need a longer screw than the stock ones.

The OEM screw is a 6 mm X 15 mm Stainless steel screw. Because Chucksters lowers are thicker than the original OEM lowers you need a longer screw.

The correct screw is a 6 mm X 20 mm. Make sure you get Stainless steel. You can use the same washer and cap nut that came on the bike.

I found this screw at my local Lowes Home Improvement store. HomeCheapo or Menards should have them as well.

Chucksters lowers are really nice, they are a perfect fit. He does a very professional job with these and the price is great. They look better than the originals.

Can't say how they perform yet, since it has been raining since I got them. Just wanted to post this info to make it easier for someone else.

I used the same bolts but had to remove EVERYTHING. The metal "cover" (in front of the lower) and both pieces of rubber bushing. I wanted to go riding and didn't want to make the trip across town to Lowe's to buy longer bolts. :)

Nice to know that if your local hardware store doesn't have them, you can still get them from Amazon relatively quick.

BTW- they are button head socket cap screws 1.0 mm pitch

I know this is the wrong section but many of you have had an nomad 1500. Do the chuckster lowers for 1500 nomad need longer bolts too? My Nomad is 03. I was thinking of getting a set of his lowers.

I have a set of Memphis shades lowers I took off my 2007 1500 classic, with smoked colored shields and I would throw in a few Plexiglass Proto types cut different shapes If you might be interested???? Real Plexiglass, so you can cut it with a saw and carefully, it will not break or crack like Acrylics will.

Just a thought?

Due to the weather haven't been able to ride much lately but got a couple hour ride in today.

First ride since installing Chucksters lowers on the 1700 nomad. I was getting a small amount of buffeting with the stock lowers and now that's all gone. Very pleased with them.

If you have your windshield adjusted properly at the right height and are still getting buffeting, try a set of these lowers.
