Picture from local paper

http://www.chronicleonline.com/conte...ing-retirement

A picture of our retiring principal, a fellow teacher, me and our former principal at retirement party yesterday. The gentlemen I am in the picture with are truly icons...me, eh. Doesn't seem like 29 years since we started together.

Wow! Congrats on teaching for 29 years!

I must say - retirement sure seems better than working...

Wish I were retiring with our principal but I got a few more years in the tank.

Retirement is not all that great.
You just get to go to bed when you feel like it and get up when you feel like it.
You do what ever you want during the day and if it is nice you can ride your bike everyday.
No hassle about having to work for some one else.
You get paid once a month and get the bills out of the way and what is left is play money.
OK, I guess retirement is GREAT after all.

Geeze Ron, you need to ask them to run a correction. They didn't spell your name right! They failed "Reporter 101."

Oh well, at least you got your picture in the paper!

Congrats!

The misspelling doesn't bother me too much. It was great to see Mr. Dabney, a true giant of a man, and one of the best people I have ever been associated with. He set with Tammy (she was due any day) late into the night while I was in the ER one night after a basketball game. He still keeps tabs on me and my family.

I still have a few years to go as well, Had I played my cards better I'd have been retired at least a couple years ago.

As Tim says retirement is hell. With no structure and no boss to keep you on track, you soon forget how to multitask and do 10 hours worth of work in 8. Some days it feels like you got nothing done.

Ron, Surprisingly for me the last 5 years at work flew by. Maybe because I wanted to have so many personal things in place and things to do before I left, I'm not sure.

I have 11 left to reach 40 in education. If I can stay in the AD job that long, I'll be a happy camper. New principal coming in so we shall see. We are hitting it off well and I'm hoping that will continue.

Norm are you retarded,....sorry I mean retired !?
18 months to go and I pull the pin....unless something unforeseen comes along. I've had 2 yrs. to practice while I've been off with the knee, and now again for the last couple of months with what looks like pneumonia. I go on vacation for 5 weeks starting the last wk. of June so I can practice some more. I think I have the idea down pat now.
