If you're coming to Ireland this is what a 2003 Nomad will cost you to buy!

In case anyone is thinking of coming over to Ireland for a touring holiday here is an alternative to renting a HD which will cost a small fortune. This is the opposite to what I did in August when I went to Canada and bought my 2003 Nomad instead of giving $1,700 a week to rent a HD Ultra!
This bike is being sold by a friend of mine and is located about 5 miles away from me and I think it has around 30,000 miles on it.

If you are planning to come over make sure you book for April if you want to hook up with George Clooney

What does that = in US $? Sounds close to what one would be in the States. How much did you spend to ship your Nomad to Ireland?

It converts out to about $8700 USD...then ship it home.

It cost $1,200 to ship it + $500 to make the crate (which I can use again) and when you add the cost of custom duties and VAT Tax it brings the overall cost to me to around €5,000 ($6,700) which means it was worth my while buying a bike rather than pay Can$6,100 to rent a HD for 3 weeks!

WOW! So what do rentals run in Ireland? Not looking at the near future, but we do plan to visit in the future. (land of my heritage, 2nd Gen. American/Irish.) When that day comes, not riding is NOT an option.

I know of people that shipped their beemers to Europe. They said the break point was about 3 weeks. Past that it made sense to ship their bike over. I wouldn't pay $8700 for any 1500 or 1600 Nomad. it's way over market.

I think the front chrome fender rail is on upside down on that bike. It shouls be sitting a lot lower along the front edge of the fender.

Lot of money for a 2003. Glad I'm not looking to buy and living in Ireland.

I had another look at this and it is definately on the wrong way around

If you notice the triangle is pointing the wrong way, it should be pointing down as in ringadingh's photo

It probably took a lot of work to get it to fit like that

It would fit either way, but you will have to remove the front wheel to get at the four bolts that hold the piece on. Also when you remove the bolts the fender can be removed as well. Be carefull as its a snug fit and very easy to scratch the fender while its loose between the forks.

I won't be removing anything as it ain't my bike but when I bump into the lad who owns it I'll let him know what to to.
