A Mental Health Weekend

Between work for me and full-time college for Ann, the stress and need to get out for a ride has been chewing at both of us for awhile, but neither would let us take some extended time away. There came a point last week though, where I walked into work and said to myself, "Screw it... this crap can wait," then pulled out my phone and called Ann to make some plans.

So I told a little white lie last week and took Friday off. Ann's classes were over by 10:30 that day, so we engineered the ideal time to get out for a 3-day mini-vacation to the Texas Hill Country and ride the Twisted Sisters (RR 335, 336, and 337).

This is our favorite ride to kick off the riding season. The weather held perfectly, staying in the low 90's during the day and the lower 70's at night. We stayed at the Guadalupe River RV Resort in Kerrville, which has perfectly sized cabins and an onsite saloon for 're-hydrating' after a long day in the saddle. ;) All told, we rode about 830 miles over the weekend. The people and other riders were friendly, the beer at the end of the day was cold and plentiful, and most importantly, we got some time together doing something we both love.

Some pictures we took during the weekend:

Looks like a good time, thanks for the write up and the pictures. But I'm wondering, only 830 miles to Africa and back?

We were surprised too. Some kind of wildlife preserve. Lots of people stopping to take pictures. That's the first time I've ever seen a giraffe in real life. Or the other animals, whatever they are. It was pretty cool. :)

The sisters are a great ride.
Noticed in the last picture of you riding that the sisters removed any evidence of chicken strips

Good for you! That was our same routine earlier this season. Like to kick off the season with a trip to the Hill Country. Makes life at home a lot better. When does Ann finish? Kelli will walk in May. Just 4 more weeks. Woo Hoo!

No more chicken strips..

Ann has a long road ahead of her when the end goal is a medical degree. 4+ years at least. Congrats to your wife! I can't wait to go to Ann's graduation. That's gonna be a party!

no leaves on the trees here yet, I just cut the grass for the first time today.

I see a pattern here the man with the nomad and the lady with 900LT

What kind of backrest is that on the 900?

Looks like a great time. Sometimes a person just has to play hooky and take some time off. If the weather would ever warm up here, I could do the same thing!
