Another Episode of the Twilight Zone... Hypocrite

"You just cant make this sh*t up" continues to provide

State Senator R.C. Soles (D - NC) Long time Anti-Gun Advocate
State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City , N.C. about 5 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor for the politician's home county said.

The intruder, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen and Brunswick counties..

The State Bureau of Investigation and Columbus County Sheriff's Department are investigating the shooting, Gore said. Soles, who was not arrested, declined to discuss the incident Sunday evening.

"I am not in a position to talk to you," Soles said by telephone. "I'm right in the middle of an investigation."
The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn't hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim.

In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the "Do as i say and not as i do" Anti-Gun Activist Lawmaker picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self-defense shooting.

Why hypocritical you may ask? It is because his long legislative record shows that the actions that he took to protect his family, his own response to a dangerous life threatening situation, are actions that he feels ordinary citizens should not have if they were faced with an identical situation.

It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine.
But, this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.

I am sure all of them own guns but want us to get rid of ours. Then they would be able to do whatever they want.

Another thing that senators and congressmen have that we don't. If they are caught speeding, guess what? They can't be ticketed. They can only be arrested if they commit a felony. And it would have to be pretty serious then.

They should charge him with attempted murder and perhaps he will change his tune about gun ownership.

Better just to guilt the SOB into admitting he was wrong about gun ownership....

From what I read he shot the man for trying to kick in his door if that is the case and Mr Blackburn had not entered the house then in a lot of states the senator would be charged with the shooting.
Since he was acquainted with both men it sounds like he might have been afraid of them.

Yep Jim it becomes a touchy subject if you shoot them and they haven't entered your home.

Thats what he would have wanted if you had shot someone under the same circumstances. Im just saying he should get a taste of his own medicine.

Hmmm...I wonder if the intruders were armed?

Every citizen should have the right to protect themselves, especially in their own home.

If the shoe had been on the other foot, he would have done what he already had done... push for more gun controls

Not to stray too far from the subject at hand, but in this morning's local paper there was an article about how the states with the most stringent anti-gun laws also have the highest violent crime rates. Coincidence? I don't think so.

What paper I would like to read that, got a link?

I have always heard statistics prove the opposing view that the places with the most stringent gun controls had the most crime.

You gotta watch out for some of those "Statistics" they can spin you in any direction they want by the wording.... it aint lying... its just not the truth.

Although as this article and others like it continue to prove...

Having the ability to defend himself, in this case a gun, appears to have saved him from being a "victim" of a violent crime.

Makes you wonder, do they subtract the unsuccessfull "violent crimes from the successfull ones to come out with a % of successfull vs % prevented or are they all just lumped into one statistic?

.....just curious as I have become a really bad "show me the facts" type of person over the years.
