Thinking my house just got scouted

Had a strange occurrence just happen at the house. About 8:00 pm a young kid rings the doorbell and tells me he's doing a survey. He asks if we use kleenex. I tell him we use Puffs but I play along thinking he is a college student. He then replies that he gets paid to ask one more question but has to go see his boss who is in the van out in the middle of the street, not parked but sitting in front of the house ???. He comes back carrying a Kirby vacuum box. I promptly tell him I'm not interested and shoo him out. At the time I just thought a kid trying to make a living, but it kept bugging me. About 9:00 I call the next door neighbor and he had the the same thing happened at his house only it was a different guy. I called the police dispatch to make a report and the gal told me they have had several complaints about these guys and are sending patrol units out looking for these guys. Kinda gives a person a bit of an uneasy feeling. Guess the pistols are gonna have to get dusted off and moved a little closer to the bed. :-/

Keep a shotgun next to the bed loaded with buckshot. Best home defense weapon in the dark. Take care.

If it is a sawed off shotgun, even better. Hard to miss.

Chances are, you'd never have to use it. Just the sound of a 12 ga pump action is enough to make most people fill their pants. The sound is unmistakable and instantly recognizable.

Thats right if they are still stupid/brave enough to come on in after hearing a 12 gauge get a shell jacked in the chamber you had better be ready to shoot because either they are hopped up on drugs or they have come to do you harm

A house caser will take a quick look through the front door to see if there is an alarm system. Most control modules are within sight of there.
