Bought an '06 Nomad a few days ago. I currently own an LC 1500 and a Venture that I'm going to sell in the spring.
We've been using the Venture for long trips and it is a great bike, but a little top heavy for some one approaching their 60th decade.
Love everything about the Nomad except for the lurching between 1st and 2nd. Reving it higher helps the shifting though.
I teach school here and the bike(s) help me forget the unruly and often lazy students...

Welcome from the left coast of Canada. Once you get used to the Nomad, you are gonna love it. Congrats on your new ride! :)

Hi welcome to KawaNOW and congrats on the Nomad. My friend and {a member "midge"} I,.... each had a Venture. He found his to be top heavy as well. Me?... not so much. I liked the bike.

Hello Blimpo. Welcome from Southern Louisiana. The lurching you are describing is because of the lean fuel/air mixture. That is how Kaw designed the bike because of the EPA emissions standards. A Dobeck TFI or Cobra fuel processor will solve that lurching problem. Mine did the same until I installed the TFI. The fuel processor allows you to richen up the mixture which results in better performance, smoother and cooler operation. There are plenty of threads about this in the Garage board. There is plenty of good advise and help here. All you have to do is ask. You have surely come to the right place. ;)
