If you click on the vid tab and slow down the action it looks like the bike in back of him got very close, or he just fell over.

He put his leg out too like he was a dirt tracker. That doesn't work well with an 800lb bike.

I've seen this one before and still can't figure it out. It almost looks like an inexperienced driver paniked when approaching the cameraman and hit the brake, as majeff noted, and leaned away to cause a slide. The foot going out is a giveaway to inexperience. Easy way to loose a foot on a big bike.

Nasty.

This was on the site a few years back... No one knew the final answer on why it happened for certain.

The bike begins to lean just before there is a visible puff of smoke from the rear tire.

My guess was and still is; he hit his rear brake only or downshifted to a too-low of gear, which caused a skid with the back tire -- which caused the back-end to slightly fish-tail to his right.

This obviously scared the crap out of him enough that he made his second mistake of not controlling the bike, which led to his final mistake of putting his foot down in an attempt to keep the bike upright.

As always... most accidents are a series of mistakes. In this case a series of rookie mistakes, sorry to say.

Only because we witnessed an accident that seems similar, will
I venture a guess. The bikes get too close and the rear bike touches
the front bike, causing the front bike to flail around. I believe the rear
rider is already down when the front rider is trying to piut a foot down.

Okay, so the front bike downshifts and inexperience kicks in big time. At the same time with the downshift the front bike suddenly slows considerably and the rear bike runs into it and compounds the situation.

At first glance I was going to suggest that the guy passed out or had a heart attack. But, after a few minutes of scrutiny, my opinion is he lost control due to rider error... whatever that may be.

Damn, that's hard to watch. It sure looks like the rider on the first bike tried to put his foot down.
