Hoppy wiring

I got my Hoppy converter yesterday. Any suggestions on the wiring? Is it best to patch into the STT wires under the fender or should I try to locate them somewhere else? I am thinking of putting the box in the left side cover because I plan to leave the hitch on and put one of those hitch insert tail/brake lights in when I am not pulling the trailer. I have the service manual but it is a little cryptic on the location of some of the wires.

I wired in under the seat to the rear of the battery where they come up from the fender. There are aux. connectors there as well if I remember correctly.

Here's what I did: there is a 6-pin connector located between the battery and rear fender under the seat. That's where the taillight wiring harness connects to the main chassis harness. Splice into the taillight harness in that area. Should something go wrong, or you want to restore to original someday, the taillight harness is a lot cheaper and easier to replace than the main harness.

I spliced in a Hoppy 6-pole connector at the taillight harness and routed it underneath the coolant recovery reservoir. I connected the other side of the connector to the Hoppy converter input wires, wrapped it all in 1/2" wire loom and called it good.

Harness under the seat, got it. Thanks.
I knew there was a place better than tapping into it behind the tail light.
Where did you end up mounting the box itself? On the hitch? I was thinking of putting it in the left side cover since I dont have the california can in there.

My Hoppy Converter is mounted on my hitch. My LH side cover is filled with CA emissions stuff, a Cobra FI2000R and a fuse block. If it will fit there, go for it.
