What is it with the magazines these days. Just read, I believe it was Cruisers or Road Bike, had a bagger shoot out. No Nomad. They did have a Road King, so it wasn't just soft bags.
Now, I pick up a copy of Cycle World, in all honesty I didn't read the article, but it said on the cover Big Baggers. No Nomad. They used the 2000 with the leather bags. Is that it? Is the Nomad now a small bagger?

Not to Fret....did you pick up the October 09 issue of Motorcycle Cruiser. They compared the Nomad, RoadKing and Victory Vision....Nomad came out on top.

There was a thread about this not too long ago......Wolfman can you provide link to thread for jayc?

Did not get that issue yet. My local Stop&Shop changed their magazine rack, and doesn't carry it anymore.

Huh, Who cares what some medai hype writter says in the first place! In the 2nd you own a Nomad, so why would you care?

Every one knows A Harley will be in any rag comparing it to a Honda 250 rebel if a hype writter needs a buck. When I think Harley i want to see the accessories, and whats offered as back hoe, log spliters, and the rest of the things that fit the 3 point hitch and power take off..

Was that space craft Victory in there? You know the one with the great big saddlebags a tube of lipstick won't fit into? Man that thing is just ugly. I dunno maybe ugly can be good, but it ain't good enough for me, because i aways carry 2 sticks of lipstick.

I just hope my wife never sees that thing, because she is fond of ugly. She married me didn't she? ::)

Here is a link to the article that Unwind talked about

http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/roa...ers/index.html

The Nomad came out on top but barely. Our fav bike is slipping. Kawi needs to listen. Cruise control, and few other amenities will make the difference. Too many people don't know and can't experience the roll on power of the engine or the ease with which the Nomad rolls around corners and sweeping turns in the twisties. That last item should be a HUGE seller for MC fans, after all, motorcycles are best on their sides.

I think another big selling point for the Nad is the price. If they do start adding amenities, up goes the price. Unless they decide to offer them as options.

I subscribe to a bunch of motorcycle rags and it seems to me that in the past couple of months, most of them have done "bagger" comparisons. "Bagger" seems to be a loose definition. To me, a bagger is a cruiser-style bike with HARD BAGS. There aren't many bikes that fit this definition. Some of these mags would put bags on a KLR650 and call it a bagger.

Not being in the magazine publishing business, I don't have insight into the "behind the scenes" stuff, but it makes me wonder how the bikes used in these comparisons are selected. Is the choice purely editorial, or is it influenced by advertisers (Harley)? If it's purely editorial, meaning "impartial", then great. If it is influenced by major advertisers (Harley), then to me this is no different than payola in the music industry.

I suppose we'll never know, but I have my suspicions.

Cactus, the harley thing could also just be that there are so many harleys out there, and there are so many fanatics out there, that putting them in as many comparisons as possible translates into more subscribers.

Or I could just be naive :)

I hope I manipulated the quote right. In any case i took it out of context. Sorry jack but it happens.

Not only would writters make the KLR 650 with big tins on it a bagger they would put paper bags on a goddess to grab a buck..

I don't subscribe to MC mags. No time to read 'em. Other than what you all bring up here I don't give a rip.

It appears to me that the other brand bikes are mass produced while there are only so many Nomads available. You can find a ton of 1600 Classics but only a handful of Nomads. Nomads are middleweight cruisers or light heavyweights or heavy middleweights now as well.
