I originally posted this on our regional boards but I thought I'd share it on here as well:

Our trip was shorter than we initially planned due to a bad back pain my wife had but overall we enjoyed every mile, "decompressed" totally and returned home much younger (my colleague told me that I looked so young the first morning she saw me after vacation).

Sundry statistics pertaining this road trip:

Most scenic freeway: I84 from Pendleton to La Grande, OR
Most scenic byway: HWY 82 from La Grande to Joseph OR
Most charming towns: Walla Walla, WA and Joseph, OR
Best hotel: Best Western*, Omak, WA
Best steak: Geiser Grand Restaurant, Baker City, OR
Best burger (ever): The Embers Brew House, Joseph, OR
Best pizza: Local Myth Pizza, Chelan, WA
Best brew: India Pale Ale, The Marc Restaurant, Walla Walla, WA
Best ice cream: Hought’s 24 Flavors, La Grande, OR
Best chiropractor: Steven Bachman, Baker City, OR
Highest elevation gained: 4310 ft. Wauconda Pass, WA
Longest distance ridden in a day: 440 miles
Shortest distance ridden in a day: 0 mile
Longest distance ridden in rain: 90 miles
Total distance ridden: 1740 miles

We're looking forward to our next road trip.

Cheers,

Elvis

* Walla Walla Best Western offered us Harley rate without me inquiring about it, so I figured we could use that discount at other Best Western hotels, it works ;)

Glad you had a nice road trip and was able to unwind. That was a lot of miles. Glad you made it back safely.

Sounds like good roads and good food. But I'm wondering about the Harley rate - are you serious?

Thanks Rick. The Island ride does not look possible right now.

Cheers,
E.

Hi Cal,

No, I'm not kidding. I just ask: Is that a Harley rate? Then the receptionist gives $10-15 discount. And we park at the main door way, our bikes are usually visible from the front desk. Guess our bikes are usually very dirty and don't draw much attention, seeing a pair of v-twins is good enough for them. We like to leave the bikes there, somewhat protected from rain and parked in a well illuminated area.

Just googled it and found info at https://goldcrownclub.bestwestern.co...nts.asp?cfg=hd

This was taken last year at our favorite Best Western in Omak, WA [but we did not know about the discount then]:

Kris, after the rough riding conditions followed by lower back pain in the last trip, she is now convinced and getting a windshield. We've looked at Memphis Shades, she sat on C50 Touring bikes and other metrics. The Suzuki OEM windshield is very expensive and comes in one size. The Shades look nice, customizable and can be easily taken off the bike, I think it's gonna be the Memphis Shades.

June-uary is almost over, hope July will bring some sunshine and warm winds so that we may enjoy riding also on this side of the mountains.

Elvis
