It's been a long time in making.
With a thousand excuses, I finally got a vacation on the bike. For all you riders out there taking long distant rides long before now, it had to start somewhere. I've been riding for 30 years and never thought I would take long distant rides except trailer the bike behind a motor coach. Well I am ready for the next one already.
Since getting this bike late last summer, I worked on the bike over the winter adding my personally made lowers, trunk and a little painting. And the dreaded job of pulling engine to replace a $5 valve cover gasket. Put new clutch spring in the summer thanks to everyone advice. Lastly, while waiting for vacation I did a MacGyver if anyone remembers the TV show. I built my own trailer hitch and trailer from the stash around the garage the past 25 years for a total cost of $225.00 mostly for supplies. The bike tows like it's not there and we can stow everything comfortably. While joy riding in the back roads for a week I found this bikes sweet speed for best gas mileage of 44-47 mpg at 62-65mph. My wife and I love the ride. Although I have some sheepskin pads on order! I guess we will be seeing some of you in the future at some events. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Welcome! Travelling on a bike has a certain freedom about it that makes the trip far more enjoyable. Ive been riding since the late 60's but never went anywhere overnight until I got my current bike. Its a great experience.

Welcome to the group. Perhaps my wife and I can hit the road on my bike in a few years when my youngest is old enough to leave home alone. Until then, I'll settle on local joy rides.
Ride safely. |

[quote] Although I have some sheepskin pads on order! [quote]
If you sheepskins have not been shipped, you might want to try "IKEA". They have a white & gray sheepskins in their textile dept. They fit the Nomad seat like they were custom made for it. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60114112 Although they show $39.99 here, in store price was $24.99 two weeks ago....-Rich |
