crazy Recommended oil/oil filter

Hey guys. Im going to do my first oil change on my 1600 classis with 12,500 miles on the engine. It is my first bike and I have never changed oil on a motorcycle before. I was wondering if you guys have any insight on which type of oil to usw because I am clueless. Thanks!

Rotella T-6 full synthetic and I use Fram filter.
I'm sure there will be 5,000 different opinions or you can search oil change in the search box.

Never use automotive oil labeled as containing "friction modifiers/reducers". It will play hell with your clutch. I prefer Mobil 1 synthetic four cycle motorcycle oil.

I have been using Shell Rotella T6 for the past 5 years. Never a problem.
But everyone has their own preference.

I have been using Rotella T6 for the past 24,000 miles and never a problem. I also use the Bosch 3300 filter.

i Use this .....

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/s...w-40+motor+oil

And the K & N filter simply because it has a 17mm nut made to the back of it so its very easy to remove. If you do go with the K & N filter dont use that nut to over tighten the filter to much during install.

Same for me. I changed from the Fram to the Bosch filter because of the low rating given the Fram filter.

Your oil filter should not be so tight that you need a box end wrench or socket to remove it. Hand tight only.

The link you gave shows the normal diesel oil 15w-40. It is not rated for motorcycle use. It needs to be the Rotella T6 synthetic oil..

BEST USES

Motorcycle

Comments about*Shell*Rotella T 15W-40 Heavy Duty Motor Oil (1 Gallon):

Great product, I use in all 3 of my bikes. No friction modifiers to make the wet clutches slip, and high zinc content is great for reducing wear

That is from the reviews. It has an approved jaso rating. Ive used this oil on my nomad 1500 last 5 oil changes no issues. It even smoothed out gear changing. Read the reviews.
