what are you all running on settings on your 2000 r, and how far above sea level are you. i am running 3 4 1. i have a hyper charger. had the second pot on 5 and seemed a little rich on heavy throttle. no ping on 87 octane, but i never lug it. i was running 91 octane, and tried a tank of 87 with no problem. much more power with the 87. bill

Mine is set at 4-6-0. I have an open 7" intake with Cobra True Duals. I run 89 octane (mid-grade) with a little pinging on hot days. I am at 1200' above sea level.

I run 2-4-0, Roadhouse pipes, 9" caddmann mod, 87 octane--no ping. At 3-5-0 I could smell gas at stops.

1.5 / 2.5 / 0 1 mile above sea level Still will ping on 87 but only if pulling trailer. Mileage is good, power is okay. K&N stock intake - Supertrapp SE muflers on V&H front pipes

I am still at the factory setting of 3-5-0 and my bike is debaffled and live at an altitude of 1065 feet. Seems to run fine on 89 octane. I have never tried the 87 octane but feel it would run fine on it. I may give it a try sometime just to check.

I noticed different settings for the 1600 and the 1500. I have a 1500. I set it for 2,2,0. No time to tune it yet but I hope to soon. I have cobra true duals and just did the right side caddmann at the same time. It seems to run fine. I left the solenoids due to it being 30 to 45 degrees here for the last week. I have only used 1/2 tank so no idea on mileage. I marbled it but still get some decel popping. Seems to have more power but could be in my head. How would I know if it is running too rich? Just my mileage?

Hi Snarley! Hey I have an 07 and originally here's what I did. I put V&H Duals, removed to entire stock intake and Air cleaner system and did a RH side Hyper-Charge then put a Cobra FI2000R on. Played with the settings a ton but ended up back at 3 / 5 / 0 Then about 6 months later I had a water pump shaft problem that required we go into motor. While apart I had the heads Extrude-Honed which in effect is a mild porting job on the heads. We put the bike on a chassis dyno with sniffer to tune and ended up at 3.5 / 5.5 / 1.5 After that my wife complained so much (and I sort of agreed) that the V&H duals were just to loud on a ride of any length so I switched back to a stock exhaust that we debaffled. Back on the dyno to tune and we ended up back on 3 / 5 / 0 for the best performance and closest to optimum sniffer ratios. while we were there we did some playing around with and with out mufflers and using flex tube to by- pass goats bladder. First the biggest wowser was, though the V&H set up did deliver the highest peak HP and TQ number, the stock system with untampered goats bladder in place out performed the V&H set up from 1800 RPM to 4,000 RPM. And we did find that you can back off from those setting to the 1.5 / 3.5 / 0 range on my bike with so little performance change that with out the dyno we would have never known.
When it was all said and done I have debaffled stock system with a goats bladder and a Hype-Charger and with the FI set at 3 / 5 / 0 I can run 87 octane with no ping and 38mpg.
I do notice though that in extreme heat and very hard running (summer in the south and 85MPH on I-95 or I-10 for example) my mileage will drop off to around 30 on the 87 octane while if I run a 90 plus octane fuel the mileage only falls off to about 35 mpg. That leads me to believe that some pre ignition is occurring and robbing some power in some situations so I compromise and run mid grade mostly.

thanks for some more great info. i will sort it out. my cobra true duals arrive today. i think they will give a little more low end then v&h. they are probably a little more restrictive. we have a couple of places with dyno's around here but being that close isn't that critical. i hate to move away from the oem exaust cuz i think it is well designed for the broadest power band. i just want a little more bark out of it. two into one would be the way to go but i love the dual look. bill
