Light bar for 2008 Nomad 1600

Hey guys and gals,
Love the forum, and I love my new Nomad. I was hoping to get some feedback on light-bars that fit the 2008 Nomad 1600. When I look around the web, everything lists up to 2007 model. Is there a difference between the front end of an '07 vs. '08? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Rook

My dealer says that they are the same. I bought the Fire and Steel light bar from my Kawa dealer. He gave me a very good price on it, installed it myself and it looks great. Only problem I had was one of the bulbs was not working called the dealer and Kawa sent me 2 new bulbs no charge. Can't ask for better customer service than that.

Your post doesn't say where your from. The dealer that I got my from will ship them to you. Let me know and I will be glad to give you the info.

I bought a Cobra light bar. The only downside is that I have Edmund's lowers and I have to trim them so they fit in some way. They mount to the same bolts that hold the brackets for the lowers. I paid $214 plus shipping on eBay. So far, so good.

I could be wrong on this but I felt like upping my post count
The Fire and Steel bar is the same bar as the cobra. I think it is made by the same company. The cobra is less expensive. Lots of people on here have the cobra, I do , and recommend it highly.
They have them on Ebay all the time.

Does the Cobra have the switch built into it like the F&S one does?

Light bar for 2008 Nomad 1600

I recently bought my F&S light-bar (K32001-011) on eBay for $232. The fellow I outbid bought another set a few weeks later for $189 when he was the only one bidding. There are lots of Cobra light-bars out there today for $214. As mentioned above, the F&S are made by Cobra but supposedly they are designed to better match the Kawa headlight. I don't know since I've never seen a Cobra set up close. I doubt if the casual observer could tell the difference. I just bought the F&S because I knew I could get them on eBay for about the same price as the Cobras. I would never pay the MSRP over $300 that most dealers charge.

Yes the switch is on the Cobra as well. This is a pic of the cobra on my 1600.

First, Welcome rook1870 from NW Georgia, second, any Nomad 1600 part will fit another Nomad 1600 reguardless of year model. The F&S is made by Cobra, and The F&S's on-off switch you can mount on your handle bar and it comes with a circuit relay. The cobra's switch is mounted on the back of the lightbar and doesn't come with a relay. There isn't a really large selection to choose from either way.

That's interesting. My F&S that I bought for my 06 1600D has the switch on the back of the light bar. It did not come with a handlebar switch nor a relay nor did the parts list that was enclosed in the shrink-wrap package identify these items. The parts list and diagram had the F&S Part #32001-011 with the Kawasaki logo. So I don't think it was a matter of packaging the wrong item at Cobra. I actually prefer the switch on the light bar. That's one less set of wires attached to the handlebar.

Thank you to everyone for the information. It looks like the choice is the Kawasaki model, or the Cobra model. I will have to add that to my shopping list.

Thanks,
Rook

I stand corrected ;) I went back and checked, The handlebar switch, and relay are supposed to come wit the F&S lightbar for the 1600 classic . I have the cobra lightbar for the Nomad now, and yesterday I went and picked up my new lightbar that is for a 1600 classic. Some time in the next week or so, Im going to install it onto my NAD. I wanted the turn singals under my lights instead of to the sides, and besides, my lightbar is already showing considerable rust . Im not too impressed with cobra's chrome ???
