Mine is tight against the engine block, but that's where set it when I installed this engine. I bought the special tool to torque the locknut.

Thank you for this pic. I see you have no threads showing on the adjusting bolt.

There are 2 threads showing on the motor side, but they are full of dirt. I really need to get the wife to do a better job of cleaning this bike!

Ok I can see now. Yours look pretty much the same as mine with the dirt out of the threads. Right?

Thank you so much for this pic. So this bolt don't Move the engine at all? Left or right? Just there for easier removal and install?

Engine is positioned on the left side by the frame, this removable bracket allows for engine removal and I expect the adjuster is to take up any clearance to minimize vibration and make the frame more rigid.
I didn't take my bike apart for that photo, I have a bushel basket full of modified motor mount parts and tools and templates that I used in my quest to align my pulleys several years ago. Although I succeeded to align them, and verified with a lazer, and the belt did run away from the edges of the pulleys, the belt still whined. I ran that way for a year until the belt fell off the front pulley and made a big mess, I put it all back to stock and threw in the towel. The issue is finally resolved as of yesterday, brand new 2016 Yamaha with my name on it, .............. SHAFT DRIVE.
