Gettin the bikes ready

The snow is melting more and more every day. So today I went out to the garage and changed the oil and filter in my bike. Tomorrow I will do the same for Liz's bike. About 2 more days like this and we will be able to ride out to the highway.

The excitment of riding again is getting stronger. I went and started her up, the other day. She turned over on the first try, what a great feeling. It had been a few weeks since I had started her last. Began to think about some day trips today and some riding therepy sick days also.

My bike is at the dealership...again getting warranty work done for the water pump seal. Boy, once this girl hit 40, she started having all kinds of problems. On a positive note, she's going to be all brand new and ready to go!

Jeff,
Is this problem related to the original work or just a coincidence?

I know when I hit 40 I felt like a used car. Always in for repairs.

The bikes are ready to ride. They still need a good cleaning but the oil and filters are changed, the K & N air filters cleaned and oiled, the rear end fluid checked, antifreeze, brake and clutch fluids checked, all lights and turn signals checked, horns checked, tires and air shocks pressures checked. Gave both bikes the once over looking for loose bolts. Now we are supposed to get rain here Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday. But just watch, as soon as the roads get where we can get out, the township will cover them with new gravel. I do have a trailer I can haul them into town on if I have to. When is that Gulf Coast Ride?

Ann and I were able to get out for about 50 miles today. It was great to be out but I wish we had put on the leather jackets. Even with the liners, the Mesh was just too light for 54 degrees. :) My legs aren't totally thawed yet even after two hours at home, but totally worth it to be able to get the bike out of the garage for the first time this year!

Rode for just under 500 miles this weekend. Little cool but almost perfect for riding bikes. Hope everyone will be riding soon.

We should get a ride together towards the middle or end or March for those not going to the Texas Hill Country Ride down on the Gulf Coast for a few days.

We haven't much of a clue who's showing up for the Texas Hill Country.

Got up this morning and the ice and snow pack is finially gone off of the roads. It is 38 degrees on my front porch so there was no refreezing over night. Now it is suppose to start raining here sometime after dark tonight and rain for the next 4 days. And the Township started laying fresh gravel last Friday afternoon just as I suppected they would. I started yesterday afternoon sanding Liz's trunk down for painting. I guess if you can't ride the bikes you might as well work on them.

Jim, I might come up your way one Saturday or Sunday in the next couple weeks and we can maybe eat lunch somewhere and do a little ridin' up in your neck of the woods. I'd love to go down on the coast sometime in April for a couple days, though. We'll talk about it in the next few weeks.
