Nomad History...

I'm sure you guys have looked at the History page on the kawanow website and noticed nothing there.

Can any of you guys tell me the history of the Nomad....what year it was first introduced...was it a 1500?...etc?

Thanks,
Trip

Nomad History...

Nomads were introduced in 1998 as a model G1, the 1999s were G1A the only differences are in the crash bars, oil sight glass location and positioning of helmet locks

Nomad History...

Re-posted with corrections:

I've had 5 Vulcans since 98, 3 of them Nomads. My first was a black 98 1500 Classic and I loved riding it. My second was a 99 (98) G1, in g/g. I bought it used in July 99 cuz it was a killer deal, and my wife(now ex) bitched about the 1500 Classic hurting her back on rougher roads. Rode it 26,000 miles, mostly in Alaska, till I saw the beige/tan 02 Nomad on the showroom floor. Bought that one in Fairbanks in Feb of 02. Moved to texas in June of 03 and continued riding the 02 till we got hit head-on by an out of control Electraglide at Sturgis in Aug of 04. Totalled my beloved Nomad and the Electraglide, and killed the other rider. I survived. In September of 04 I purchased a used 03 1600 Classic via ebay (great price on it), and rode it until I saw the 05 Nomad on the showroom floor in February of 05. Loved the black and silver color as well as the improvements over the earlier models. I still have that one, with over 30k on it. Oh, and none of my Vulcans have ever broken down on the road, never needed dealer service, never let me down in any way.

Nomad History...

I bought my 1999 Nomad in October of 1998. It is red/red, the option was green/green but everyone knows red is faster. The helmet locks were in an impossible location but when I added the Kawasaki Voyager trunk I used the original bracket and it has great helmet locks. I have made a few other mods on the way to 66,000 miles.

I think this is the start of a great site for Nomad owners, thanks for all your work!

Chief
