FOR SALE - 2006 Nomad 1600 - Off the Market

!!! NEW !!! After seeing the state of the used bike market and what a haircut I would have to take (selling the bike locally) I decided to keep this virtually brand new Nomad and customize it into the touring/cruising bike I wanted by adding things like a fairing, trunk, radio, grips, pegs, and of course More Chrome! The project is already underway with new ISO grips and throttle boss, saddle bag top and side rails, front fender trim rails, Cobra light bar, Grasshopper backrest, soft lower chaps and a whole lot more on the way.

I appreciate the tone of the Nomad community ergo the comment about my initial asking price and those that jumped into the discussion subsequently with encouragement that my initial asking price was fair (which I believed it to be). The KawaNOW community is a very positive and supportive group with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share and I deeply appreciate your insights and the quality of the discourse here.

Per the requests on this thread I finally figured out how to post photos so here are a couple I took 4/10 on a 120 mile ride to Elliott Island on the Chesapeake Bay.

All the best,

Capt. Doug

Hello All,

I love my Nomad so much I am thinking about buying a Vulcan Voyager. Sooo...here is a stab at selling my beloved bike for another one.

Extremely low miles, like new condition, garage stored, never dropped!

2006 Vulcan Nomad 1600 - Black - 2,500 miles

This is a stock bike that was first put on the road in October 2008 and has seen only one short season of gentle riding. It is in perfect condition and spotless (other than a few bugs I picked up on my ride this afternoon) :)

Asking $8,900

Feel free to ask questions or make inquiries.

All the best,

Doug

I forgot to mention that this Nomad does have a chrome luggage rack (shelf) and two Kawasaki soft luggage bags for the saddle trunks which are great for overnighting.

I am probably stepping on a toe here but I want to say something about posting your reaction to some else's asking price for something they have for sale.

It's total appropriate to make your comment in private to the owner. It's totally in-appropriate to make your comment as a public reply to their forsale post.

I often have read a forsale post and thought, that's way out of line cause it's too much or is way less than I would expect. If I am interested in buying the item I communicate my reaction in the form of negotiating a lower price with the seller or I scoop up what I think is a great deal.

If I am not interested in buying the item then what I think of the prices is of little value and I just keep my opinion to myself. To do otherwise is just doing a diss-service to a fellow Nomader! And it if you just can't restrain yourself, at least make your comment to the seller in a PM!

As someone who also has a Nomad for sale, I hate it when the price police show up. (They did not show up on Kawanow for me) It is so hard to tell right now what the used bike market is like. Not knowing the market makes it hard to price the bike right. It always boils down to how much it will take for me to "walk away from the offer price" or except the "offer". IE: Matching the buyer up with the seller. One of the large guitar forums that I visit has a rule against public dissing or price policing. Having said all of that, the price police can so up in silence and speak loud and clear when no offers come in.

FOR SALE - 2006 Nomad 1600 - Off the Market

I tend to agree with the majority here, about voicing comments on someones pricing. I'm sure there were no ill intentions but like has been said. Perhaps a PM is in order when "helping" a fellow KawaNOW member /Nomad'er.
Personally,.... I immediately thought WOW ! that's half of what I paid for my '06 new here in Canada. Seemed like a good deal to me.
But I'm sure C.J. will be along soon and will set us all on the right path.

I thought it was a good deal myself. If someone is looking for a low mileage Nomad in excellent condition they will buy it considering what a new one costs.

I think that is a fair price look all over craigslist coast to coast 7400 to 7800 all with about 24-30k on them. I would stay at that price it will sell.

FOR SALE - 2006 Nomad 1600 - Off the Market

As the moderator of this forum, I can no longer sit back and bite my tongue.

If someone has an item item for sale, do not post publicly about the price. Do not argue over what is fair price in public. A seller can set his/her price at whatever he/she wants to. If you don't think the price is reasonable, that's your prerogative, but either keep your thoughts to yourself or PM the seller and discuss it in private.

If the price is higher than the going rate, the seller will figure it out on their own soon enough. Maybe the seller thinks the price is fair based on pricing of similar items where they live. In any case, it's the seller's problem, not yours.

If the price is too rich for your blood, then simply don't make an offer on it. It is embarrassing and disrespectful to both the seller and the buyer to dicker over pricing in public.

That's all I have to say about that.

FOR SALE - 2006 Nomad 1600 - Off the Market

I too thought it in the ballpark....especially at the new price! That is exactly what I will be looking for when the time comes to sell my current ride....a clean, gently used low mile Nomad that I can easily strap all my goodies onto! I would be seriously considering it if I didn't have another good riding season or two left in mine!
