cold start up

I just started up my bike for the first time after sitting all winter and it started fine but it sure runs fast for a bit when first started and it kind of makes cringe to hear it running that fast. Is this normal for the 1600's? In the summer it isn't as bad, I suppose the temp. is higher so it doesn't call for it to speed up as much.

Yes, its normal...the ECM is doing its job the way it was designed. Should only idle faster for a few minutes. I never have to use the fast-idle (aka "choke") knob either..

Hah. I used to live just down the pike from Frostbite Falls MN, and I guarantee you that it's still to cold there unless you like riding in a snowmobile suit and Pacs.

Its all good...haven't missed more that a 2 week period of riding all winter long here (and tomorrow will be day 8 right now due to rain and 40's and 50's temps...and if it goes much longer I'm putting on the rain suit and taking a spin).

Hope all is good with you.

That green stuff is trees and grass I know its different from what you guys have over there.......don't think those pines in the background would last too long out in the desert!!

Caddman, I don't know where you think I am, but it's nowhere near MN....we were in the upper 60's and mid 70's till last week.

Hey lonewolf, We missed the snow you got but its no heat wave here yet. I did start the bike up but it sits in a heated garage!! They keep saying next weekend it will be in the 50's so we will see.
