I would like to extend a welcome to all KawaNOW members to this local Oregon VROC event on the banks of the Metolius River in beautiful central Oregon. It starts on thursday with a meet and greet welcome Bar-b-que and campfires. On friday and saturday there are great rides in the area for those wishing to explore new roads with some of our rally veterans. Relax in the evening around the campfires and enjoy some blues and rock music performed by a few of our club members. All in all a great relaxing time to be had by all. There are camping and rv spots available at cold springs resort

I could probably make a day or two of that on my way home from the KawaNOW SW Rally....but I'll probably be rallied out by then and will cherish some solo ride time through the mountains of Idaho on my way up to Missoula (via 93 and the Salmon River)

I did not realize the Hells Canyon Rally was happening that weekend. No way am I riding Hells Canyon that weekend...real large Rally's are not my thing. I will look at a plan B.

You know....looking at the maps and all the great rides in the area (which is why the Hells Canyon Rally is so huge)....I'm thinking that Baker City, OR might be a great place to have our 2011 KawaNOW NW Regional Rally. I have ridden some of that area and can attest to the excellent motorcycle roads in that part of the country!

My guess is that very few NW members are going to travel to Deals Gap on the East Coast for the 2011 National Rally... ....so we might get a great turnout, including some of the SW members... ! Hhhhmmm.....now I've got myself thinkin'....

What I'm saying is that the National Rally in 2011 is basically an East Coast Rally. It would be a four or five day ride both ways for anyone from the NW wanting to attend. That alone makes it impractical for most of us.

Therefore, we should very much consider having a 2011 Regional Rally for those on the West Coast who would like to participate.... .....and Baker City, OR would be a great place to consider holding it.... .

I live close to Baker City, OR, and can be of assistance if you decide to have the 2011 rally there. That is in the heart of some great riding country. The roads are good, a lot are very twisty and there is a lot of history in that area. Baker City is a neat place and there are several hotels/motels there, as well as camping. Shoot me an email or give me a call and we can talk about it. This could be exciting.

I'm still pumped and planning for the two Rallies (SW and NW) I get to attend this year...so I'm in no hurry to start planning just yet for 2011. I do think that it would be a great idea to hold it in Baker City, not only for the great riding in the area, but because I think we would have a great turnout from both the NW and SW members if we hold it in that part of the country!

I will start a whole separate thread for the discussion when the time comes....probably right after this years party in Kalispell! This is gonna be a great summer....say it after me....KA-LI-SPELL...KA-LI-SPELL.... !

Hhhmmm ! is this the start of a national rally boycot? .can we
be censored or maybe banished from kawanow.is this like a tea
party grass roots movement .just kidding but i will admit that
my thinking has been similar to kris's.i think most folks who are
still working for a living need to be able to travel and attend these
rallies with one weeks vacation time.deals gap just doesn't work
as a site for the national rally in my opinion.
