Huge storm

My dog just started barking and I looked outside and we are in the middle of a "haboob", a dust storm. Haboob is arabic for moving sand. You can barely see the house directly across the street.

I watched the Weather Channel track it. Very impressive.

I bet air filters don't stay on the store shelves long there.

We live about a quarter miles north of an Indian Reservation, miles and miles of bare desert, so we get the dust real bad out here. This time of year I change the air filters in the central air once a month.

Hopefully, some rain will follow the dust storm although it's still dry outside. I couldn't tell you the last time we had rain. Maybe sometime last February.

Nope. I do speak some Spanish, though.

We didn't get any rain, but the temperature dropped 20 degrees in a hurry!

Here's some footage of tonight;s dust storm. They are saying it was over 60 miles across and just engulfed the valley...

Here in Chandler, we had 58 mph winds. Apache Junction, about 20 miles away has sustained winds of 81 mph.

Holy Crap! Shut the front door! Glad we don't have to deal with that. That's a scary site to see.

I guess youll be dusting with a leaf blower I imagine that could be quite hard on the paint jobs and vehicle air filters.

Very impressive. I haven't been in one but they had one in Western Kansas in 2002 that was very impressive. Just imagine being back in the dust bowl and having to put up with these all the time.
