OK this is a personal opinion, just like answering a question on best oil, which is Rotella T6 by the way ;-)

I ride a Voyager, 2 up, pulling a Bushtec trailer for lots of my riding, 25k last year. Have used Commander II, Michelin 888 both wear about the same for me. Original tires Dunlop 404? didn't last long at all. Last sets where Dunlop American Elite [ front MT90-16 Rear 180-65-16) which I find to be the best of the ones I have used. Feels secure in dry/wet or dragging the pegs. Got 13k out of the rear and 18k on front. Others have reported higher mileage than what I got, but then again I replace tires early since I am riding out of my area a lot, don't want to deal with tire replacement on the road.

Found (while doing winter swing-arm maintenance) that my nearly new rear tire has a nail in it. So I will be going over to the Darkside and see how that works for handling.
Good luck with your search (I found motorcycle superstore has best price and will match.

On my 750 Vulcan, Shinko 230's were great. Handled well dry and in heavy rain. Good life from them. When I got my C90, I switched those over to Shinko 230's too. Front tire seemed to last forever. Rear tire wore quicker than I'd have liked, but it still handled well in all weather conditions. Just put Shinko 777's the Vaquero about 6 months ago. Wearing well so far, and still handling well wet and dry.

For the price, they're hard to beat.

Don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I've also been running balance beads in all of the bike tires.

I had Michelin Commander II on my Voyager, no complaints.

i am big on oem tires and the bridgestones have been incredibly smooth altho rear wore down at 10000 and front just changed at 13800...i did put the shinko on the front since at 115 total price installed was hard to beat...but the rear i stayed with the bs... remember the more milage u get out of a tire means a harder compound.... the harder the compound the rougher the ride

Mich Commander II's. Just don't run them too long...don't push them. The last 20 percent wears out really fast and gets a bit slippery in the rain. But for the first 80 percent they are awesome. Excellent grip dry or wet and amazing life.

Well here goes, just my 2 cents, I went Darkside on my 1700. I am very happy with the way it handles, especially in the rain. The original Bridgestones aren't even in the same ballpark as far as wet weather traction. The only time I know its back there is around parking lot speed, but once out on the highway it is just great.
