Welcome to the board if I haven't already done so.
Do you want a pull behind, pop up type or do you want a pack and thrown down type?

I am looking for a pack and throw down type. Lots of choices out there. Looking for 1-3 person tent.I may be going solo, or my dad might come with me on his bike.

I would recommend one that will keep the black flies out, and one you can stand up in. Makes it easier to put your pants on when you get dressed.

You might want to consider pulling a small trailer. Then weight and space become less of a consideration. You won't have to choose between a compact backpacking tent or a larger, spacious tent.

If you are considering pack size and weight then a backpacking tent works well. For about 20 years I used a Eureka Timberline that I couldn't seem to wear out. I now have a smaller design from Eureka - Apex 2XT. Neither are expensive $100-125 but serve well. Many other more expensive quality tents to choose from too. Try here

What behop tells you is correct. In my bike camping days, I packed a Eureka on my bike. It stood up to all the abuse.

I have a Eureka as well.....nice equipment...costs a bit more, but well worth it if it turns wet and cold. But like Trip, most of my camping days are now done with a front desk and room key.

Yeah, "roughing it" to me is not ordering room service.

I like the stand up kind. Ozark Trail from Walmart. So it's big, so is the Nomad. Plenty room.

I guess I am a bad camper, most of the times I go its for a long weekend. I buy the cheap walmart tents and sometimes find them on clearance during the middle of the winter for next to nothing.
I have (shamefuly say this) just left my tent after a long weekend. I was tired hot and ready to get on the road, and a $30 tent is much cheaper than a hotel room. I figure someone else can have it if they want to take it down and pack it up I know I am a bad bad camper |

Malay,
I have a buddy that lives in Alaska and rides his bike to the east coast most summers. He camps and has a 1 person tent. He just throws it down beside his bike on the side of the road. He normally rides a BMW but just bought a Yamaha 1300FJR. http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x...rry%20Camping/ Zoom45

i got a great tent from wal mart, ne ver liked any tent from there before. Fits nice on the bike, big enough for me and the wife and travel pack. Fits a queen sized air matt in side, barely.
