more lights without a bar

I remember reading a post once about someone getting lights mounted without buying an entire lightbar. Does anyone have any tips for this. I was thinking either that or I would find a good set and mount them on the crash bar.

Opinions?

Thanks

No the ones I am thinking of were about the size of the turn signals and clamped on to that bar or could clamp onto the crash bar. That is a nice looking option that I may want to consider though thanks.

Yes that is exactly the type of light I am looking for. I didnt want to just go to a parts store and buy something that would draw too much power. I also want to be able to wire them to run with the headlamp. Not on a switch. So to be able to replace the bulb would be good too.
Thanks

Those lights are made by Optronics and I ordered them through JC Whitney, they are also sold at Walmart under the "Chrome Burner" name (I think). They are a few bucks cheaper at Walmart.

The bulbs are replaceable, and I think they are 50w - which means they will draw ~9-10 amps. You should wire them through a relay and use the high or low beam wire in the headlight bucket to control the relay.

One thing you should do before installing them: they have a chrome ring that twist-locks into place to retain the lens and lamp assembly. This ring has been known to vibrate loose. There are 3 little "dimples" in the ring that lock into matching depressions in the housing. Drill a small hole through one of the dimples in each light and screw in a #6 x 3/8" stainless steel screw and they'll never come apart on you unintentionally.

CJ, did you by chance try mounting your lights lower on crash bar with wires running on the bottom and up the frame instead of over the top of crash bar?

Oops, that's an older picture from January. When I first mounted them, it was as a "proof of concept" to see if I liked them there, so I did it temporarily. Turns out that I did, and have since routed the wires inside the crash bars. You can't see them now.

Somehow I knew you would not leave the wires zip tied to crash bar!!

That's what I did was install the Kury Lights like Trip had them....as a matter of fact, they're the same ones. I bought them from Trip when he switched to a Light Bar. They're still on and I love them!!!!!! For little lights, they sure put out a TON of extra light. And being a Kury product, they always look great!
