What model bike? What year? Any modifications to the engine/intake/exhaust?

welcome from southeast Tenn, these are big bike and sometimes need a lower gear to help them move, if your at 50mph and the motor feels like the tong tong as you say, drop down a gear and see if this helps. the pinging you hear could mean you need to do the chain exstenders or it too my be in the in how you use your gears. again welcome to the site lots of good info, you should go too Blowndodges garage page I am sure you can find what you need there.
ride safe.

These motors make a lot of mechanical noise. The pinging on acceleration is faily common due to the lean fuel setup. You might be able to get rid of that with a better grade fuel, and making sure you are in the proper gear for your speed when you twist the throttle.
The vibration (teeth claqing) is also a characteristic of this big V-twin. Long stroke, not much you can do about it.You'll get used to all the little quirks and love the bike.

A big vibration at those speeds could be driveshaft or a broken/loose/mising motor mount bolt. It could also be a bad tire.

Is this topic for real? Right off the bat I though it has got to be a joke of some kind.

Besides, 100 KPH is 62 MPH, and in 4th gear at 62 MPH a Nomad accelerates really well. It's in the absolute meat of the power band.

Let's see what sort of response we get from grizzly3p, seems like a reasonable attempt on his part, as was yours.

Look what I found, He must be for real, not sure where he's from, Sorry Grizzle
Hi All,
I'm after some advice about my bike, i have had it now about 5 weeks and really enjoying it, the bike has just done 750 miles from new and i will be booking it in for it's first 1000 mile service, but today whilst i was riding i noticed some pinking noise coming from it when i put it under load i only get it when i give it a good bit of throttle and load the engine. Is this anything to worry about or is it normal the bike is a standard classic tourer or nomad in USA

Someone said to me that it sounds like it is running too lean, do i need to speak to kawasaki when it goe's in for it's first service to see if they can make any adjustments or not or do i take no notice of it.

thanks for your time,
Aharkel.

I found on Wikipedia that in British (proper) English, engine pinging is "pinking", but still no response back from the grizz though.
