Ride with spil99

Went up to Lake Geneva Wisconsin on Thursday to meet up with my cousin from Chicago that were vacationing there. Called up Mike "spill99" to see if he would like to meet up and go riding. Him and his wife came down Saturday and the four of us took a ride around the lake and neighboring towns including a lunch stop in Tony Romos hometown. Gave Ray a call while having lunch and a nice chat with him even though he was working.

Ended up putting on a little over 800miles for the trip.

Yeah it was good talking to you to Ray! We had a good day riding and having fun.
Coming back home on Sunday wife and I rode through Galena stopping there for lunch. It was a pain getting a parking spot with tons of bikes and cars there. Just outside of Galena(east side) a group of riders turned in front of us to go north. I don't know what make they all were but one of them was a maroon and gold Nomad with I think a Harley Tour pak painted to match the bike. we had seen also a group of women I think it might have been Bolton?? WI riding....don't know if you were with them Jen. I don't think you were because I would have recognized your ride unless you were on the Volusia! Good weekend overall!!

No it wasn't me, I was riding solo that day. I did join a riding group but riding by myself is still my first choice.

Lake Geneva is nice! I was there a few weeks ago for work (team building exercises....) But we had a house a few blocks from the lake and ate dinner at Popeye's on evening. I'd love to explore the area by bike sometime!

One of my frequented areas to ride. It is only 45 minutes away from me.

The traffic is insane there in the summer though. We have a friend that lives near the lake now, so we can park there and walk around.

There is a lot of history to that town, to include the Chicago gangsters from back in the day. I imagine there might be a few dead bodies on the bottom of that lake wearing concrete boots...

After the wife and I got back in to town we saw the shack that had the picture you see below. As you know that is Popeye's outdoor cooking shack,so when I saw that we had to eat there. Sun was going to set plus the lake view, so we wanted outside seating...took a while since everyone else had the same idea. Food good!!

Like Greg mentioned of bodies in that lake, what we noticed about the majority of the license plates in the driveway of the homes around the lake were Illinois plates, as were the cars driving around town. My cousin took the 2hr boat tour around the lake and they were told most of the MANSIONS by the lake were owned by wealthy Chicago families.

Even ALL CAPS is an understatement. There's a lake-side trail that is open to the public to walk, and I took a few pictures.
This first picture, I think I learned has been divided into 6 luxury condos, but it's impressive nonetheless.

Just some examples of the shacks you can see around the lake.

Some of these homes' front gate cost more than the average home...

One that comes to mind actually has a small house at the front gate for their gate-keeper to live in. Crazy money...

We saw this house on the bikes from the road( see it from the lake too). We saw a lot of people on the roof top and once we stopped at some other place we were talking about it and wondering if people had a wedding or a party going on. Asked my cousin about the place since she took the tour and yes Jay you are correct. Apparently the place was empty for a while and some guys bought it and made condos out of it. Apparently there is a pool on top and that's what we were seeing. It has indoor pool(s) as well!!

Jay, you need to tell me how to post pictures on here like you did.Thanks. How is fatherhood treating ya?

It's something new, that's for sure!
Here's a pic I took today of Mila Estelle Stephens. All of 4 days old! I'm trying to learn a lullaby or two, but the good ones make me tear up, so I've got to practice some more

Rasta, to post pictures like this, I upload them to my Photobucket.com account, then they provide a URL so I can just post the link in my text.
Behind the scenes is this:

also, I sometimes borrow pictures from the internet by using their image URL and posting it with the same [img] [/img] code

Using Chrome, I right-click an image and click "Copy Image URL"
