High Mileage

This weekend Dave and I rode to Kernville and the Sequoias.

Lots of you have chided me for only having 20K on a 2006 Nomad. Scott has almost 50k on his 2007 and some older ones have good mileage too.

But.... you guys ain't nothin' compared to "Marty" a guy that rode up with some friends of ours to Lake Isabella.

Marty rides a 1300 Honda cruiser outfitted with mild touring stuff. The last 11 months he's logged 48K miles!!! I'm not kidding you either. That's averaging 100 miles a day everyday of the year.

He's told us of short trips that turned into 6K mile trips!! He changes rear tires every 6-8 weeks. I tried to tell him the virture of car tires but it fell on deaf ears!

so for all of those that have nearly 50K on a 3 or 4 year old Nomad, just try to imagine doing that in 1 year!!!

Wow BD, that is a lot of miles in 11 months.
I have 54,000 on my 07 and thought that was a lot of riding.
Cindy has put 11,000 on her 2010 900 LT she bought April 27th.
In my defense, we can only ride 6 months out of the year up here. :(

Sounds like Marty is either retired or unemployed, if he has that much free time to ride.

You've got 20k now, Brad? I guess putting the Nomad on a lift and letting it run in gear all day really helps!

That is a lot of miles. I can't afford the gas for that many miles in that span of time.

He's works. He told me he does a lot of traveling in state for the company he works for.

I've seen posts on another board where he ride in any weather rain, snow, heat of summer. He's the real thing. I've never met anyone that loves to ride like he does.

A buddy of his, Jim, he's right there, too.

I tip my hat to the both of them!

~10K miles/season is what I put in and my season is 6 to 7 months/year.

Thats a lot of riding, but if you can use it for work it would be a lot easier to do. I had a job once that required me to travel about 600 miles a day in a van every day. Can you imagine if I used the bike, Id be wearing it out every year or sooner.

BD don't feel bad I have a 2003 with 17k. Of course I have put 14k on in the last 2 years but only about 4k this year. If I don't get more use out of it next year I may have to take up golf again.
