Short update on Liz's bike

I looked at Liz's bike today. The DFI fuse is good as is the CI fuse. I did not dig in and check the relay. Funny thing now is the fuel pump sounds like it is cycling as it should, which it was not doing when we looked at it in ES. And when you roll the engine over it smells fluided but nothing looks wet. The FI light is coming on so the circuit should be all right. And the engine will fire with a little starting fluid sprayed in the throttle body so I don't think any kill switch, kick stand switch, etc., has gone bad. Still sounds like a fuel pump problem to me.

Mitch send me a bill for tow service and I will turn it into my insurance company. Just kidding!

So in the morning I will haul the bike 60 miles to the dealer and let them do the warranty thing and hope it is the relay and not the fuel pump. I will keep everyone updated as we find out more.

Either way, warranty should take care of it Jim. It's always good to have a trailer on hand for a large group of bikes. Odds are someone will have a problem.

UP DATE:
Got a call from the Kawasaki shop this morning they said it was the fuel pump... ordered the part should be in Tuesday the 6th hope to have it done by Wednesday. Keeping my fingers crossed..

I knew it hopefully it was under warranty, otherwise around $500 thats why I use only walbro pumps $89. Either way glad to hear it is a simple fix, got my fingers crossed for you

Good deal Jim. My pump has been getting pretty noisy again. Only problem is that the noise is intermittent and it gets quiet when I bring it to the dealer. Sure hope I can get them to change it before the Talimena get together. It's a long ride up and back to be concerned about the pump crapping out.

Mitch,
How are you going to get the dealer to change out your fuel pump on warranty if it's working? I'd like to know so I can do the same thing. Mine's been chirping also.

Trip, The service manager told me to bring it when it is making the noise and they will call Kaw and get the authorization to change it out under warranty. I brought it to them once already and it was quiet. It usually starts making noise after a lengthy ride. On my next days off I plan on leaving one morning early and taking a long ride and bringing it to them when it's noisy.
