Breakfast today

The engine in my Bronco, 302 V8, started knocking about 6 weeks ago while on a trip to Boise. This week I finally decided on a course of action and handed it over to a trusted garage who pulled the engine and sent it to a machine shop for an autopsy and rebuild. They found #5 piston slightly melted. Guess I need to run more injector cleaner on a regular basis. Might have gotten more than 175,000 miles out of it.

Back to breakfast. We have a Blue Knights breakfast meeting the last Saturday of the month at a local eatery. Since my Bronco is in the shop, and my wife needed her car, the only way for me to get there was on the Nomad. It felt good to get the bike out. All leathered up with gauntlet gloves, full face helmet, XM radio to keep me entertained.

When I got there for some reason no one else was on their bikes. Roads were clear and dry. Few patches of ice but they were easilly avoided. It was embarassing. Blue Knights car club.

It was 10 degrees when I left the house. Down in the valley it was 16 and by the time I came home it was up to 23 with the sun shining. Some people are just picky about the weather they ride in I guess.

Oh, breakfast was good and the ride was awesome!

Nah, I was gracious. Well, mostly. Okay, I did rub it in a bit. Something about going home to get my balaclava to wear in public to hide my shame for associating with whimps. HA.

Actually, it was not as heroic as it sounds. It's only a few miles and at slow speed so the wind chill really was not a factor.

You're a better man than I am Bud. I rode one afternoon a couple of weeks ago when it was 34. It felt great for about 10 miles. I didn't don the chaps and my legs did get pretty darn cold. Everything else was OK.

Let me 'splain somethin. I never go out when it is this cold unless I'm wrapped like a mummy. High tech underwear, chaps, Heavy gauntlet gloves with an extra cotton liner. Hey, I only look stupid.
If you are out riding in 34 degree weather with only jeans on your are crazier than me by a long shot!!!!

Hey Daryl, I just realized, I'm supposed to be in Colorado Springs in June for a Blue Knights gathering. (the weather should be warmer by then) Maybe you can plan to give me a tour of some great roads while I'm there.

Love too! When are you coming? I'm scheduled to be out of town the 7th - 11th.
The following week is the SW Rally in Cortez. You should try to make that and we'll do the million dollar highway!
