I haven't had any problems towing my trailer, but it only weighs 130 lbs empty and I don't load much more the 75-100 lbs in it.
I hardly notice mine behind me and I still get better than 35 mpg @ 75 mph.
See pic in sig

The map in my sign off thing, was just one ride, a bit long for one ride, hitting some 40 states, but the bike pulled a trailer in almost all of them. It began in NH, went 9,000 mioles to Cal. From Cal it went 6,000 to Fla. From Fla we went to Arkansas. After that due to hitting winter on Thanks giving we bought a van and a big trailer for the bike and it's trailer. So from Arkansas to thru the south east the bike trailer was used less.

It was used none the less as we stayed in several camp grpunds over 30 days, where the van was just a bed and anchored down with sun flys and other items making moving the van not the thing to do for food shopping.

Trailer towing

I towed my aluminum 175 lb trailer full of luggage from Louisiana to Custer, SD through mountain passes, in heavy rain, hail, you name it. This also included my 235 lbs and my wife. The 1600 did fine all the way around.

What you don't do towing a trailer in the Big Horns, is stop to take a leak and at 9,666' walk down hill to do it! That was a lesson!

You bet it will. I towed a 300 pound (trailer and load) from Phoenix to Custer and back, over 3500 miles. Took it up and over the Continental Divide in Colorado (11,000') with no trouble. You hardly notice it's back there.

If anyone knows about pulling a trailer for long distances at high speeds, you do Scott!

Trailer towing

I just completed a 4k mi. trip through CO., Yellowstone, Jackson Hole etc. while riding 2up. Bike performed well. Went through a back tire pretty fast though. I built my trailer and got a lot of input and advice from the guys here (thanks CJ & others) as well as Delphi site. Do your homework, plan and then have fun!
