Let the mods begin

Well I've had my nomad for just over a year now and love this bike so much, I put on 17k kms on last year . And it's about time to do some mods on "big blue" , I think I've got preatty much everything I need . I plan on starting this weekend doing the mods , just waiting on the final parts to come in from Chuckster this week .

Here are the mods that are coming ;

Cobra Slashcut true dual exhaust
Dyna jet PC lll usb
Chuckster dual plate air kit
Cam chain extenders
Kuryakyn deep dish led's front & rear
Kuryakyn Triple whammy light kit
Kuryakyn highway pegs
Kuryakyn grips
Wolo " bad boy " 120db horn ( that'll wake up the cagers)
Tank bib
Chrome front & rear fender caps

Going to be a busy weekend , but well worth it .

You're doing all that in one weekend? Weekends must be longer in Canada than the US. Best of luck with your mods. Show us some pics when you're done.

Monkey , Hoping to get it done this weekend , I have a friend helping me so that will make it alot faster . The lights , grips are fairly quick and easy to do . It's the exhaust and set up of the PC that's going to be the time consumers . Having read all about the chuckster add on's
they should go fairly painless . If anyone has any tips I'm all ears .

The exhaust is a breeze. 1/2 hour if someone is helping. The bolts for the goats belly are on the side. Loosen everything up before you actually unbolt it. Make sure you get the old gaskets out.

Don't know anything about the Dynajet as I have a FuelPak.

If you follow Joes directions for the intake, you can't go wrong. They're spot on.

Don't try to work around the tank. Remove it completely and set it off to the side. MUCH easier to work. Read Gadgets site regarding tank removal.

I notice you didn't include coasters. This would have been a good time to do them as you'll need to take the tank off anyway. Chuckster has them, too.

Well it's been over a month since I started the mods to the nomad . The weekend I had planned to do everything was a little frustrating . First off the delivery of the Chuckster stuff was two days late and didn't come in til the Monday , so the intake and cam extenders were not done ( darn Canada customs).

Then I had the kuryakyn LED front and rear turn signals installed , and they looked great and worked no problem until I tried the turn signal and all four lights flashed like 4 way flashers . Thought was the triple whammy not working or I may have a bum set of LED's spent 2 hrs trying to figure out what the problem was , only to find out on the Monday after talking with a Kuryakyn tech that I needed these silly little diodes for the lights too work . They don't tell you that or include them when you order the lights .

The horn , exhaust , highway pegs, grips & backrest are on . and Silly me thought that I could get the K&N filter off the shelve NOT I've been waiting 4 weeks and should be in tomorrow according to the shop that I order it from . So this is the first weekend that I've had off of work since I started this , so here's hoping that I can finish the air kit and cam extenders so I can take to get dyno'd . O yeah I've since ordered Cobra lightbar which I pick up tomorrow and a Reckless batwing which is still a week or 2 away from delivery then it's going in for paint . Then I'll be DONE ( for this year ) .

Don't feel bad. I started my Tour Glide fairing project 3 months ago and never did finish. I started my batwing fairing better than a month ago and I'm still not quite done. I still have brackets to paint and another piece to add in front of the risers. Neither of those will be done any time soon as I'd rather just ride than work on the damn thing.

Monkeyman, I hear what your saying . I'd rather just ride myself , but feel I need to complete the air kit and dyno'ing before starting to ride so I can fully enjoy the hardwork that my friend and I have done .

Well the Chuckster dual plate is installed , response is much better love the sound of the air being drawn in air kit . Reminds me of when I use to have my Datsun 510 with dual makune carbs. I did notice that I'll have to put up with the red light for the FI on all the time now with the air kit installed. Small price to pay for the
improvement . Now I'm just waiting for the bat wing to arrive, it's completed the customs process and should be here next week sometime . Then a week or so at the painters and I'll be done . Well after dyno'ing then I'll be done

That doesn't sound right. I installed Chuckster's dual plate intake, along with the coasters and a Dobek TFI and my "reds" all still behave as for stock. You might want to check the disused solenoid wiring for a short.

No doubt if I'm wrong on this, some other knowledgable member shall correct me.

You should not get any lights coming on, something isn't right.

I agree, I have Joe's dual plate system and all instrument lights are normal.
