Son makes his first college start

My 2nd son made his first college football start for Friends University. He is starting at left tackle. We couldn't make it out for this game but I am going for the home opener next weekend. Been listening on internet radio, trying to watch some of it online too but the video is too choppy. It stinks we are 1300 miles away but just proud that he is playing.

I remember when my Dad sent me to Mercer University.

I painted the dorms while the students were out for the summer.

It is these type of things that make being a parent wonderful. I am sure you are gleaming with joy and are proud.

Too bad someone there doesn't have a Go-Pro or something that can be put on a tri-pod so at least you can see the action of the game. Yeah... it would be in hindsight... but hey... so are pictures!

Hope your son does well, and stays healthy. That's a tough game.

Brings back memories Coach! Congrats on your son playing football.

I remember dropping off my youngest son to college in St. Louis over 8 years ago. He attended Webster University on a baseball scholarship. Every season, my wife and I would try to make it to as many games as possible.... but for me, it wasn't enough. I wanted to be at every game, but couldn't.

Wes was Webster's ace pitcher for four years, then he graduated and became a Spanish teacher and baseball coach for a high school in St. Louis.

I am going out for his home opener but the rest of the family and some friends may go out in October. We are trying to find every game online that we can to watch him.

He graded out ok, 88%, highest on the OL for the game. He was bummed about the losing but ready to get back to work. Now we just have to figure out what is wrong with his truck. Won't run, may be fuel filter...hope it isn't another fuel pump!
