Looking to switch my tour bike from Beemer to Bagger... here's details...
Mine is Titanium Grey BMW 04 RT 1150cc (dual plug) twin cyl, 6 speed, shaft drive, intregal ABS braking, approx. 39k mi., heated grips, electrically adjustable w/s height, 3 position seat,removable/lockable hard shell side cases and rear hard shell top case , Illium aluminum ,driver/pass foot boards, Russell leather seats & matching backrests, new Gel battery, new Michelins Road Pilot 2 radials, fold away Sparky hgwy pegs, oversize Parabellum w/s, cylinder head guards, BMW toolkit, tire repair kit, plus stock seats, footpegs & w/s incl'd in sale @ $7200. or $6500 w/o custom seats & topcase.
Prefer to SWAP/TRADE for 1600/1700cc Nomad of equal value, must be in xclnt shape with low miles & location in northeastern U.S. would help defer shppg costs.
My reason for switching rides is both age & medically related.

The price is a little high, but if I were you, I'd stick with what you have. ;)

The new RTs are going for more than that, but they come with a lot more too. Figure 23K plus tax and topcase. I paid 19K OTD for my 2009 with a topcase, so they've come up a lot. Still, the BMW's have a lot going for them at that price compared to other bikes in that price range and more.

In your original post, you mentioned wanting to trade for a 1600/1700 Nomad. You know those 2 are vastly different rides, right? The 1500/1600 were, for the most part, the same but the 1700s were a little more crowded for the rider, had different bags, etc.

Just making sure you were aware.

Have you posted on any of the BMW sites, like BMW Sporttouring and BMWLT?

The last year they made the 1800 was 2008. You want to trade that BMW for an 8 year old (or older) Nomad?

I was thinking the same thing. Even though it's older, the beemer is a better performing bike. I can understand owning both, but that trade makes no sense. On the other hand, if he was motivated, he'd price it a bit lower yet.

I read it as trading a 12 year old BMW for an 8 year old Nomad. And I don't know anyone who has ever bought a heavyweight cruiser/tourer for performance. For performance there are 600 cc bikes out there that will knock the socks off 80 percent of the motorcycles made.

Yeah, but in spite of the age of the beemer, it's a more advanced bike and can eat up miles pretty good. Having both would be fine, but I don't see the sense in the trade off.
