Very hgih idle speed

So I leave for lunch, start the 08 nomad and it pops thru the throttle body and now has a very high idle. feels like about 3000 RPM.

I rode it and it still does it. So I checked the Cobra Fuel processor lights say it's OK.

I turned the pots to 0 and it still does it. High idle and some popping in the exhaust.

Will the bike still run if I disconnect the cobra ground wire to turn it off completely?

Any idea what I should check when I get home??

Bob

depending on how hard the backfire (pop) was you could have bent something in the injection system not allowing the butterflies to close..

I don't think it was hard enough to bend anything.
Hopefully just a piece of carbon or dirt stuck in there.

Yes it will run with the ground (I would disconnect the positive) wire unhooked.

Well I found what it was.

I have Chuckster's dual intake plate kit. When riding home it was surging so I thought it had to be a vacuum line and I was right.

The two lines that go thru the plate get capped of with rubber caps and the pop thru the intake blew one of them off. It was laying in the bottom on the air filter. I can't believe it didn't get sucked into the engine. I got lucky for once.....

I'm getting two new ones at Autozone and will glue them on with Loctite silicone adhesive.

The cap was probably trying to get sucked into the motor, you got lucky. Although I doubt one of them caps would really do any damage even if it did get sucked through the motor.

I had the exact same thing happen to me after I installed that same kit. I fixed it by replacing the supplied caps with some better and tighter ones.
