What was your first bike, and a few others?

My first bike was one I bought when I was 14, I asked my parents if I could have one and they thought that said no. What they really said was if I had the money ;)

I bought a 1974 Honda XL 250. All my friends had two stroke dirt bikes and I pounded that XL trying to ride like them. I jumped so much that the pegs would break off. I'd go get them welded back on and resume jumping.

My first street bike was a 1979 Yamaha 650 special.

After that a 1984 Honda V-65 Magna

How did you get involved with bikes and what did you get?

I scratched a 25-yr itch two years ago and finally stepped up to the MSF course. After passing that (my first time on a bike, BTW) at age 44, I went out and purchased a 2006 Suzuki C50T. Rode that for about 1.5 years and 12,000+ miles. Traded it in a couple months ago for the Nad.

I guess it was the over-bearing Jewish mother that kept me down all those years. Now, she accepts it, but with shagrin!

First bike was a '69 Yamaha 175 enduro stripped for dirt in 1973. Then the '75 Yamaha 250 MX (first single shock dirt bike). First street bike was a '69 Kawi Mach III, two stroke which was faster than he!!. Then the Kawi GPZ 750 which was a great around town bike. After 12 years of not riding, I took the MSF and after looking at all the baggers available, I bought the 06 Nad.

As a teenager I bought a 1973 Yamaha 175 Enduro. Road the tires off of that scoot. Had my first accident on it too. I still have some pretty impressive scars from that one. Slid about 65 ft down the asphault and ground a hole all the way to my stomach lining and exposed a kneecap. Bike only had a few scratches. Learned a valuable lesson about winter riding and sand on the roads.
Then in the early 80s I bought a 1976 Honda Goldwing full dress w/ a sidecar. My wife would ride behind me and my two young sons in the sidecar. As a family we had alot of fun on that bike.
Then I went bikeless for many years up until I bought my 99 NAD. I'll never be bikeless again!

My first motorized 2-wheeled vehicle was a Tote-Gote when I was about 12. After I damn near lost my left index finger in a freak accident involving same, my dad sold it. I then bought a used JC Penney mini-bike, which I used to ride all over Island Park Idaho in the summer. Then when I was about 15, my dad helped me buy a Honda CR250 Elsinore, which I used to evade county sheriffs deputies who were trying to bust me for riding on the street and school properties. After that, I had a Honda CB125R, and I bought an AMF Sportster when I was in the Marines. When I got discharged, I rode it back home to Utah and sold it when winter came because I needed a car. That was the last bike I owned until March 17, 2007 when I bought an 05 Suzuki C50T, wheich I traded for my beloved Nomad on September 29, 2007.

I had a couple of scooters when I was 11 or 12, but my first motorcycle was a 47 Harley. Got a lot of exercise starting that old hog. I was 16 at the time and living in Tucson. I enlisted in the Marines when I was 17 or I might have run into some bad dudes and grown up to be like Nico.
