Hey Greg, this one is for you.

Copied from another forum.

Know this, it's not about construction worker safety.

ONE, ( 1 ) MILE OVER QUALIFIES FOR $375.00 MAIL TICKET. BE AWARE OF THIS
IN ILLINOIS .

Photo Radar in Illinois- begins July 1st!!!!

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING LEAD FOOTS !.....

Illinois will begin using photo radar in freeway work zones in July. One
mile per hour over the speed limit and the machine will get you a nice
$375.00 ticket in the mail. Beginning July 1st, the State of Illinois will
begin using the speed cameras in areas designated as "Work Zones" on major
freeways.

Anyone caught by these devices will be mailed a $375.00 ticket for the
FIRST offense.

The SECOND offense will cost $1000.00 and comes with a 90-Day
suspension. Drivers will also receive demerit points against their
license, which allow insurance companies to raise Insurance rates

This is the harshest penalty structure ever set for a governmental unit
involving PHOTO speed enforcement.

The State already has two camera vans on line issuing tickets 24/7 in work
zones with speed limits lowered to 45 MPH.

Photos of both the Driver's face and License plate are taken.

Please Pass this on to everyone you know who might be affected and save them
from this idiocracy !!!

Hey Greg, this one is for you.

What's the penalty for a third offense? Death by lethal injection?

Revenue generation at its best.

Hey Greg, this one is for you.

We used to have photo radar here a few years ago but it was cancelled after a lot of public outcry. Its nothing but a cash grab.
One mile over, come on, wheres the sense in that.

Hey Greg, this one is for you.

We've had photo radar here for years. We used to have it on some of the freeways but the governor didn't renew the contract because the state wasn't getting enough revenue from them. Now tell me it has anything to do with safety. I don't know how it works in other places, but in AZ, sending a ticket by mail is not legal service of a summons. There is no proof you received the citation. More than half the people just ignore them and after 90 days, the ticket is thrown out. They can send a process server to serve you according to the law, but that costs money.

Hey Greg, this one is for you.

1 mile per hour over is ridiculous. It is all about the money going into someones pocket. The government worker receiving the money has been known to pocket the money. A lady here in Alabama did just that for thousands of dollars before they finally caught her.

Hey Greg, this one is for you.

Thanks Stan.

The news has been pretty good at letting people know about this.

Given that Illinois is going bankrupt... they are going for every violation they can... just to throw the money in the money-pit of our state government.

Having said that... there has been a lot construction workers loose their lives from idiots losing control. Others have been seen using cell phones and texting just before the accidents.

The state is also ticketing you heavily if you are talking or texting in a construction zone.

It is too bad it had to come to this; but I suppose if I were working along the highways... I would like to see some sort of deterrent to the idiots.

My plan of how to handle the idiots would not win the popular vote; but boy would it be effective and permanent. ;)

If I remember right Phoenix had a guy in a gorilla suit with his plates covered blowing through the photo radar a number of times. Never was identified. I think the Governor just got tired of being a made a fool of by this guy.
