MY NEW (To ME) NOMAD

Hi All,

Well I finally jumped in and did it! I found a nice 2003 Nomad with only 3000 miles. I will post pics when it stops raining in the Great Northwest (Vancouver, WA).

I want to thank whoever started/runs this website....without the site I may never have bought my Nomad. I read so many of your posts (along with other sites...for VTX, Royal Star, etc) and you all just seemed to love your bikes and had some great helpful ideas, and not hung up on what brand to ride). You had a big impact on my decision.

I will be asking lots of questions and if I ask anything stupid....get used to it.

This bike is all stock so the wallet will be burning until it is empty...which won't take long.

I just got insurance...$305 year with 250/500/100 coverage ....don't know if that is good or not but sounded reasonable.

I am just amazed how easy the thing is to ride...especially at slower speeds for such a heavy bike. Like riding my old Honda 90 step thru. I noticed many of you commented how the Nomad fits tall riders well so that was big issue for me (6"2" with a long torso)...the bike feels so right for my size, and is smooth like a swiss watch. My neighbor (who put the thought of buying a bike in my head by getting a Yamaha StratoLiner) came over this morning and just couldn't get his eyes off the two tone paint (red/champaign) and the beautiful hard bags.

I haven't ridden street bikes in 25 years but have had a dirt bike (Honda 400XR) recently. That thing scared me more than this big bike....but the cage drivers make up for that.

See you on the road!

MY NEW (To ME) NOMAD

Welcome from North Dakota! I moved to the Nomad from a Honda VTX. There is an almost 100 pound weight difference between the two, but the Nomad handles just as easy, if not better, than the Honda. It truly is one sweet machine!
