My Sturgis, Yellowstone, Rockies trip
I have never been west of Mississippi except for just across for the NCR in June. I am four days into an 11 day trip. So far have rode around the Sturgis, Deadwood, Custer area, and leave tomorrow morning for Sheridan, WY. We will be working our way to Yellowstone, and Rocky National park, before heading back east next Friday. I am having way to much fun, am just stunned by the sites of Rushmore, buffalo, the general terrain, badlands, and THOUSANDS OF BIKES! More pics here... And more to come http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c69/bigdog1990/

The most dangerous things in Yellowstone are the rental motor-homes. They do not stay on their own side of the road. Sounds like you are having fun, enjoy the trip, and ride safe.

Found out one thing about Rushmore last year the National Park Pass does not cover it they get around that by charging to park but not to enter.

Added more pics to the photobucket link in first post.
We took the long way for Custer to Sheridan, WY today, via Spearfish Canyon, and Devils Tower. Avoided the slab as much as possible and took 16/14 from gillette to Sheridan. Tomorrow is a ride to Little big horn, and then Beartooth pass and into Cody. Stay there two nights and riding through Yellowstone...hope for good weather, been mostly good so far.

Another great day of riding. I can't add more pics to photobucket, can't get the app on my iPad to work :(
Beartooth pass was AWESOME, as was Chief Joseph Scenic Highway. Yellowstone tomorrow, and finish the day in Jackson

Thought would share more trip pics. Rode for 10 days, put rain jacket on 3 times but didn't need as only got a few sprinkles. Only rode wet roads after just missing heavy rain or hail, was beautiful weather for most part.
Only downside was that smoke from Idaho and other west fires really messed up the distance views at Bear Tooth Pass, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Rockies, it was like a heavy haze. Most of the riding was not freeway, but a few days we just had to get to the next area and did. We beelined it on the way home riding the "superslab", aka boring, especially the couple 500 mile days. Did like running 80 mph and only 5 mph over speed limit. Left Denver at 3:30 pm Thursday, rode until about 8 pm, then on Friday left hotel at 8 am, rode 300 miles to Omaha, loaded trailer, drove 600 miles home arriving at 2am Saturday morning. Badlands, Sturgis, Custer State Park, Rushmore, Battle at Little Bighorn, Beartooth Pass, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Rocky Mountain National Park. 3100 miles on bike from Omaha west and back, 1200 trailering from IN to Omaha and back. http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...August%202012/ It was an awesome ride, sights I had never sen before... ready for the next adventure!
