Im fitting some 12 inches Apes, its switching from 1 1/4 to 1

the 1 inch part is slightly short, the lever will look a little long when I`m done ,

I wouldnt mind putting nicer levers in chrome at the same time

I had the same thing when I added my apes. I just made some extensions from some stainless steel and welded them onto the ends of the bars. problem solved.....

I would think it would be easier to hone out the brake/res. mounting clamp with a drum sander just an 1/8 in all the way around the inside. not to sit on the 1 1/4 part of the bar. or am I missing your problem all together.

That's a good idea , I will grind out the outside edge to move the lever closer to midline

Better measure the distance between the bolts first. Might not be enough material to da that. Besides, altering the clamp for your front brake is risky move in my opinion.
