Rusty Studs
So...there is a new thread about should a stud turn? After a search, I am throwing this out, which is buried in the turning stud thread. My exhaust studs and acorns are very rusty. Should I be concerned? If I work on it, I have to loosen the whole exhaust system...a kettle of fish. So...any thoughts regarding corrosion or failure of exhaust studs and acorns? Thanks.

If everything is tight and no exhaust leaks, you can leave it be as is, if you don't care about the look of the rusty parts. Myself I'd probably replace them with new acorn nuts.
You should be able to clean the studs up on a wire wheel.

Thanks for the wisdom folks. I hate seeing rust, that can't be good. Anybody want to chime in where one might get studs? Would Harley studs work?

I am not sure but I would guess Harley studs are Imperial and the Kawasaki studs are metric.

Just get some SS Allthread from Home Depot/Lowes or Fastenal, they also have metric studs and bolts....you can make your own. SS is nice with the exhaust, keeps rust down....use SS nuts and washers.....

Thanks D.L. Was hoping you would chime in. Great input. Cheap, but perfect rules. Thanks again.
