I need some advice/input

A bud called me this morning saying he had a 2002 Yamaha Roadstar 1600cc silverado package, wiht 20,000 miles.

he needed money and was willing to sell it for $3500.

It looks like a great price normally, but with the economy like it is I am nervous to buy it to hold for resale in the spring.

I can pay cash, its just do I tie my money up and try to sell it in spring?

From what I can tell that sounds like a good deal...go to kbb.com, nada.com, cycletrader.com, etc... I looked at cycletrader and the prices I found were a couple of grand higher than the price you have been quoted...depends on all things too: windshield, chrome, accessories, and all that...do your homework and then make the deal;)

Aloha

John,
Here are some comparable Roadstars on Ebay:

1999 with 19K miles
2001 with 23K miles
2003 Silver Edition with 17K miles

I hope that this helps,
Rich

Here's my 2 cents worth,...BUY IT ! If it's in decent shape you won't have any problems selling it come spring. Nice cruiser those Roadstar's. I' mean it's no Nomad but still a nice bike. ;) I liked my Yamaha when I had the Venture.

well I looked at it, it had 29000 not 20,000 miles
it had been laid down, windshield scuffed on edge, mirror gone one side, scratch on engine bar, passenger floor board gone on one side LOL

It wasnt exactly what I was told before I drove 80 miles to look at it

woudl be a good price if I was buying it for me to fix up, but I couldnt put what I would want to and resell at a profit
