NCR Regional Rally... plans yet?
How are plans coming along for next year's rally BnG?
I figure with the cold beginning to set-in and the season soon coming to an end for most of us (except the hard-core); the ideas might start to happen. Just wondering... that's all.

All is well, friends! I've just been taking it easy for awhile, enjoying the change of season. I've also been preparing for winter, installing a new door and storm door.
Took my Drifter out in the dirt roads and looked for places to hunt deer during the black powder season in December. It handles real good on dirt/gravel roads. The Nomad doesn't handle well for me on dirt. But the Drifter is not as steady and comfortable on the blacktop as the Nomad although the Drifter is more nimble. My five grandsons and their parents are arriving tomorrow night to visit. Gonna be hectic for a couple days for sure! I'll begin planning the regional next week, although I have a good idea of what we'll do already. In the meantime, hang in there good buddies! |

Didn't know you deer hunt. I had thought about doing the rifle season in January, we'll see what happens. I used to hunt when I lived in NY, but after we had our first, I pretty much took a long break. I am glad you are doing well. We still haven't done breakfast.

If they had rifle season in all of Iowa, I might try that. A shotgun is not a proper deer rifle.

Missed my deer.
I almost got two deer the other night, fortunately my car missed them! Ran right in front of me going about 65 mph.
Damn deer, stay in the fields. Mike

I have to disagree with that statement. I have a Marlin Slugmaster model 512 bolt action 12 gauge with a rifled barrel and 4X scope that is capable of taking a deer cleanly at 100 yards. Unless you are shooting more than 100 yards some shotguns are just as accurate as many rifles.

My comment is based on the fact that I could shoot coyote all year with a high power rifle in the same places I am restricted to a slug gun for deer. It's dumb ass, but that's just my opinion. While not like the western states, I could see a 200-300 yard shot in some places.

I kinda figured that is what you were referring to Jim.
I just wanted to clarify. ;) Here in NY where I hunt there are many shotguns made for deer hunting that do a fine job is all I was saying.

I've been trying to get my brother interested again, as he still lives on LI, but I haven't been lucky in that. We also have property in Maine, so I could go there too...but it's still pretty far drive to shoot deer. I just never liked shotguns as a deer gun. I know they work, I just like dedicated best in class tools for a particular job. If I was hunting people, I might like a shotgun better. :)
