I only have 8k miles on the bike, but the CT will go 30K I'm sure, so is that why everyone suggested doing this?
With that low mileage its probably ok so far, but if your installing the car tire it would be best to take the swingarm off and check everything just to make sure. Your seals are probably ok at that mileage also and you may not have to do anything with them until the car tire is due for replacement.
