Looks like you and I have the same year bike so here is some info on the fuel pump/filter.I had my fuel tank apart a few times this past spring trying to figure out what was going on with my bike.

However,the replacement fuel filter that he talks about did not fit in my tank so I just cleaned my filter as much as I could and put everything back together.
