fi2000 question

I have researched the threads on this site and have about decided to get an fi2000 for my 07 Nomad. It is surging at low speed and has a tendency to stall out when it is cold. Bike has 30,000 miles, stock debaffled exhaust and a K&N air filter. I do not want to change out the pipes but am thinking that the fi2000 will help with some of the other issues. Not really all that interested in turning the bike into a dragster. My question is will this unit help with the issues that I'm facing without changing the pipes. yeah, I'm cheap.
