Ever been to Quartzsite, Brad? It's maybe a little nicer than Blythe, but not much. I vote for Brawley, CA!
Kanab is a nice town, has decent accommodations and a variety of places to eat. It's right on Highway 89, and you can easily get to the North Rim, Zion NP, and Bryce Canyon. In addition, highway 14 between Cedar City and Long Valley Jct (hwy 89) is a great 40-mile ride. Very scenic and you go over a summit of nearly 10,000 feet. There are a lot of good roads in that part of Utah.
