Hey all, just a FYI, I now have 50,000 on the 07. It had 36,000 when the "fuel pump failed" on the way to the national in 2011. That's when my stubborness brought me to the discovery that the pump/filter/regulator assembly once removed from the tank can be disassembled and the filter/regulator assembly can be reverse flushed. I have done 5 other bikes now and gotten the same result on 4. One pump was completely dead when we took apart but the filter/regulator assemble was also plugged solid so i think that burned the pumbp out.
I am of the opinion that the fuel path sequence being Tank to pump to regulator to filter to injector is the cause of all our problems whihc are malfunctioning regulators (that are partially plugged and over work the pump. I think that cleaning of the regulator/filter assembly ever 24-36,000 miles should be part of everyones maint shed. Much like many bikes and cars require replacing the fuel filter every 24,000 - 36,000 miles.
